The Dog had no money

One day the Dog wanted something to do, but he didn’t have any money.  He didn’t even know what a job was, so he couldn't qualify for quick cash from an online loan.  So instead, he went out to get free donuts on National Donut Day.

He went into the donut store, but the girl refused to serve him and called him a dog. That hurt his feelings and so he went back outside to sit on the curb in the parking lot and think of something else to do.

As luck would have it

Along came the Donkey. She asked the Dog why he was crying, because that was what he was starting to do on the curb outside the donut store. Then the Donkey thought up a quick and easy solution.

Like the Dog, the Donkey didn’t have any money and everyone knows that donkeys can’t have credit cards.  But the Donkey had a job where she worked like a mule and she had heard that it's easier to borrow money than it is to get free donuts on National Donut Day.
