The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducts a new class annually in Cleveland, Ohio. Being inducted to the hall is prestigious, as an inductee is enshrined with some of the biggest names in popular audio. One of the biggest snubs within the hall previously was Alice cooper. Several think there is not a fair shake from punk rock and heavy metal too. Also inducted are Elektra Records head Jac Holzman, Specialty Records head Art Rupe and session musician Leon Russell.
How do individuals get to the Hall of Fame?
Artists are eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their 1st recording, according to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A committee is put together each year in order to talk about recording and performing artists along with those who were significant in rock and roll history that were not performers such as executives, producers, recording engineers and studio musicians who could be inducted. The Hall selects are sent out with 500 ballots to experts who then vote on it. The nominees are put to the Hall if they’re able to get enough votes.
Discussion over nominees
A lot of debate is surrounding the Hall. This is because only popular bands are nominated typically. Several others are upset that the Rolling Stone magazine, including publisher Jann Wenner, have too much influence in the process which would be why bands they do not care for like Rush, Deep Purple and others don't get nominated.
