Giants Vikings game relocated to Detroit after Metrodome ceiling collapse

The scheduled game involving the Giants and the Vikings has been setback further by the failure of the roof of the Metrodome in Minnesota. The Teflon inflatable roof of the arena tore open from continued heavy snow accumulation. The match will now be played at Ford Field in Detroit, after it had already been delayed until Monday night. There will probably be a sizable installment loan taken out to correct this problem.

Snow breaks open Metrodome

Mother Nature appears to be hoping the Minnesota Vikings will get a brand new stadium. This if clear since the ceiling was ripped open at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome because of snow loaded on the stop. The ceiling of the Metrodome is an inflatable Teflon fabric, supported by air pressure. A leak eventually occurred with snow piling up with all the snowstorms in the Midwest. ABC accounts that on 5 a.m. Sunday morning, snow dumped on the field like crazy, although the Metrodome ceiling didn't collapse entirely. Monday was when the match had already been postponed to, so it wasn't that big of a deal. This was because the Twin Cities airport was closed to the New York Giants trying to get to Minnesota due to huge snowfall and wind storms.

Game moved to Detroit

Ford Field in Detroit is where the Giants and Vikings game will now be held. ESPN explained the match will air on the National Football League Network for Direct Television subscribers although it won’t be filmed for Monday Night Football. Anyone making the trip to Ford Motors Field holding tickets from the match will get preferred seating at the 50 yard line. The NFL is giving out tickets to the game. They’ll all be free. A full refund could be given to those who got a ticket to the game. In 1981, 1982 and 1983 the Metrodome roof collapsed making it the fourth collapse.

Favre questionable

Besides being temporarily homeless, Vikings followers will even have to deal with the possible absence of Brett Favre from the game. When playing the Buffalo Bills, the 41-year old quarterback injured his shoulder. He has had a sprained shoulder he has been dealing with ever since then. More than likely Tavaris Jackson could be playing against the Giants even if he is well enough to play.
