100 Year Starship project announced by National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency

There is a new joint venture between Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and NASA. The idea is to create a space craft that can haul sufficient crew and cargo to Mars. It's called the Hundred Year Starship, but the journey would be a bit different from the moon landings. The difference between the Apollo program and this program is this is a one way ticket; these astronauts aren’t meant to come back. Visiting the DARPA and National Aeronautics and Space Administration on Mars

Pete Worden, from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Ames Research Center, brought news at the Long Conversation Conference in San Francisco. He said that National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency are working together on a project. The Telegraph reports the project is called the 100 Year Starship. The govt agencies have asked for help from anybody who can give it to them. Co-founder of Google, Larry Page, had been just one of the numerous billionaires being asked for donations. An original design might be available next year. The project is a quite large and hard 1, as opposed to the DARPA Challenge. The DARPA Challenge had been a race of self-driving cars for them to test. The intent of the project is to build an amazing spacecraft. The point would be that it could get cargo and astronauts to Mars safely. This project is different than the international Space Station and Apollo 11. The astronauts will! not be coming back from Mars.

You may only ride 1 way

It is hard for making a ferry between Earth and other planets due to the distance. A journey to Mars would take nine months to complete. Anyone who lands there may have to be self sufficient. NASA has $1 million to spend, however it is predicted the project would cost at least $10 billion to pull off. Based on Fox News, there’s a lot of fuel to move equipment into space. Four pounds of fuel per 1 pound of equipment is needed. It’s really hard for making it possible to get to Mars. Finding a way to come back can be near impossible.

Colonization and also the final frontier

Mars is just the next step in space exploration. It will not be long before other planets are being colonized. The mission would be ferrying astronauts to Mars to establish a permanent colony. There would have to be some way to adjust to the lifestyle on Mars. This planet, at some time, will die. There has to be one more place Mankind will live if the planet dies.
